A Lunation is one Lunar cycle of a New Moon to the next New Moon. The New Moon occurs when the Moon is conjunct the Sun. The interval from one New Moon to the next is 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 2.8 seconds and is called the Synodic Month.
